Laparoscopic gallbladder removal is a surgical procedure to remove the gallbladder using a medical device called a laparoscope. The gallbladder is an organ located below the liver. It stores bile, which your body uses to digest fat in the small intestine. Surgery with a laparoscope is the most common method of removing the gallbladder.

A laparoscope is a thin, lighted tube that allows the doctor to see inside your abdomen. Gallbladder removal surgery is performed under general anesthesia so that you sleep and feel no pain.
