Colon and Rectum Surgery

Colon and rectal surgeries are typically performed to treat colon and rectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), or diverticulitis, and may also be necessary after injury or wound, severe infection, or intestinal obstruction. The large intestine and rectum together form the large intestine.

Rectum surgery is a procedure to repair rectal prolapse, which occurs when the last part of the large intestine (the rectum) stretches and protrudes from the anus. Surgery puts the rectum back in place.
